Originally established in 1969 as Ord-BT, Pendal is an Australian investment manager that aims to deliver superior investment returns for clients through active management. They actively manage investments in Australian equities and listed property, Australian and international fixed interest, global equities, multi-asset portfolios and alternative investments.

In 2023, Pendal became part of Perpetual Limited (ASX:PPT). Through the Perpetual and Pendal brands, Barrow Hanley, J O Hambro, Regnan, Trillium and TSW, they have a presence in the US, UK and Europe.
 Fund/Strategy Overview:

Pendal Australian Long/Short Fund is an equity long/short strategy benchmarked against the S&P/ASX 200 (TR) Index. The Fund aims to provide a return, before fees, costs and taxes, that exceeds the benchmark over the medium to long term by taking both long and short positions in Australian shares. The Fund invests primarily in Australia but may also invest in New Zealand, and may hold cash and use derivatives. Pendal's process is based on active stock selection and fundamental company research, without being restricted by a growth or value bias. The long portfolio is built from securities expected to outperform the market, while the short portfolio is built from borrowed securities expected to underperform. Risk is managed through diversification, predetermined exposure limits, daily monitoring and oversight by Pendal's Investment Compliance team.
